3G-Like Services

14th May 2003

Europe : CellGlide, the leading provider of telco-grade GPRS mobile traffic shaping solutions for mobile data networks (GPRS, EDGE, UMTS), is presenting its GPRS Mobile Traffic Shaper(tm) (MTS) platform at this year's 3G-Like Services in Amsterdam. The MTS service node, which allocates network cell resources in real-time, provides operators with means to differentiate service performance levels and apply admission control mechanisms. It also improves the GPRS mobile data user experience and gives operators unprecedented network visibility.

CellGlide's GPRS MTS (Mobile Traffic Shaper) will be presented as a critical enabler to ensure efficient and profitable delivery of 3G-like services over GPRS networks and overcoming service quality and cell utilisation challenges. Harel Boren, VP Global Accounts, CellGlide, will highlight additional revenue opportunities for operators by launching predictable, reliable and billable GPRS services; and guarantees users a high level of GPRS mobile data experience.

The CellGlide MTS enables mobile operators to enhance existing GPRS network efficiencies and performance, and take advantage of new revenue streams by enabling priority access applications such as wireless points of sale, remote control and command, machine to machine, push-to-talk and more. These services offer a huge potential increase in ROI for operators. The MTS can also help to deliver high service availability rates, controlled performance at cell level and reliable, predictable and billable GPRS services without expenditure on costly capacity enlargement.

About the CellGlide GPRS Mobile Traffic Shaper

Installed as a non-intrusive core network service node, the innovative CellGlide GPRS Mobile Traffic Shaper manages, in real-time, the delay and bandwidth for each application and service in each cell, based on the availability of cell capacity, traffic type, subscriber profile and operator service policies. The result is a significant improvement in user experience values for all types of traffic and in all GPRS services, including WAP browsing and mobile gaming, long downloads (MMS), TCP traffic (mobile e-mail), downloads of multiple objects per page (web browsing), rich media streaming, as well as instant messaging, VPN access to corporate resources and telematics applications.

The major benefits of CellGlide's GPRS Mobile Traffic Shaper are to:

o Increase network ROI

o Improve user experience

o Enhance network visibility

o Control GPRS performance

o Differentiate service levels

Liron Langer, President & CEO, commenting on the company's activity at the Conference, says: "GPRS Mobile Traffic Shaping is a new domain and one that we are confident will have a significant impact on the mobile world. Today's operators need to invest in technologies with proven short- and long-term ROI capabilities. We are, naturally, very excited to be able to introduce the product at this important industry event, where we hope to demonstrate how it can deliver immediate value to mobile operators, and enable them to introduce new services, while making respective networks more efficient and cost effective."
