The Sony Xperia Z1 Compact is a great phone. While most top end handsets are getting bigger and bigger, including Sony’s own Xperia Z2, the Japanese firm made the decision to put top flight specs into a more pocket sized phone too and so the Xperia Z1 Compact was born. It’s basically an Xperia Z1 but, well, compact.
If you’re on Three and have been longing for just such a handset your wait is over, because it’s now available. Three carries the phone in a choice of black or pink and on a selection of plans ranging from £31 per month to £37 per month.
All the plans include unlimited texts and there’s a choice of 1 or 2GB of data and either 600 or unlimited minutes, while most of the plans carry a £29 up front charge for the handset, but if you opt for 2GB of data and 600 minutes on a £34 per month plan you get the phone for free. Notably though there doesn’t seem to be any all-you-can-eat data plan available for the phone at the moment.
The Sony Xperia Z1 Compact is 4G ready, has a 2.2 GHz quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM, a 4.3 inch 720 x 1280 IPS LCD display, a 20.7 megapixel camera and a high quality water and dust resistant build.
All in all, outside of Apple territory it’s the best medium sized handset money can buy and in every sense it’s a high end phone.
Three’s home page still lists the Xperia Z1 Compact as coming soon but if you head over to the Store it’s already in stock and don’t forget that with Three’s new plans you’ll be able to call 0800 numbers for free.
