Motorola have updated their Touchless Control application giving their smartphones the ability to read a users' latest notifications to them. And best of all the new feature is initiated by a simple voice command, making it perfect for when driving.

Yep, you don't even need to touch the smartphone you just ask 'what's up?' (or 'Read notifications if you prefer) and the smartphone will read back your latest emails, messages and social networking updates out loud.

Private messages and notifications arn't something you necessarily want read out in public, but when in the comfort of your own home or driving in your car it could be a useful addition.

Motorola's Touchless Control application also enables users' to 'get directions, set an alarm or do just about anything - just by talking'.  You can even ask 'Find my phone' and an alarm will ring out on your smartphone to help you locate it.

Compatible smartphones include the Moto X, Droid Ultra, Droid Mini and the Droid Maxx and your phone needs to be updated to Android KitKat. Sadly, that means owners of the affordable Moto G miss out on Touchless Control.

You can download the Touchless Control application from Google Play here.
