Sony Xperia Z Proving To Be A Real Success

Sony's Xperia Z is selling really well according to information being reported online. But will its success continue when the Samsung's Galaxy S4 lands ?

We are huge fans of Sony's Xperia Z and were particularly impressed by the smartphones all-glass design and its waterproofing. It's also been making quite a splash in the media , but has this translated into sales ?

Apparently, so because sources inside the supply chain reported to Digitimes that the smartphone has been very successful. They also added that the Xperia Z sold-out on the first day of pre-sales in a number of countries including Japan, Germany, France, Hong-Kong and Taiwan.

The success of Sony's smartphone is reiterated further by uSwitch's Mobile Tracker which shows the Xperia Z in second place in February. So far in March it's number one in the chart ahead of both Apple's iPhone 5 and Samsung's Galaxy S3.

Can the Xperia Z's success continue ?

Sony's Xperia Z had a first mover advantage over a number of its major rivals including Samsung's Galaxy S4 and HTC's One. The HTC One is now available to buy and the Galaxy S4 will land next month, so can the Xperia Z's success continue ?

The launch of the Galaxy S4 is bound to impact on the Xperia Z's sales, as it will on all other smartphones. However, we think the Xperia Z has got enough about it to continue to be successful.

We compared Sony's Xperia Z to the Galaxy S4 where we concluded that we preferred the premium build of Sony's smartphone, but Samsung's device clearly has a better specification. Read our Xperia Z v Galaxy S4 comparison here.

Sony themselves are predicting that they'll sell over 50 million smartphones this year which is a significant improvement on 2012's total of 34 million. We've been impressed by all of the smartphones Sony  have announced recently and love the build-quality of their mobiles !

Earlier this week Sony announced the Xperia SP and the Xperia L which you can read about by clicking here.
