Samsung Galaxy S4 - Control It With Your Eyes ?

The Samsung Galaxy S4 will be unveiled on March 14th and anticipation is now reaching fever pitch. Samsung's smartphone will be unveiled at an event in New York which will be beamed to a big screen at Times Square where the public will gather to celebrate the unveiling of the Galaxy S4.

We've built up a pretty good idea of what to expect from Samsung's flagship smartphone , but today we've heard some totally new information about the mobile. Apparently, the Galaxy S4 will incorporate "Eye-Tracking" technology.

What is Eye-Tracking Technology ?

Eye-Tracking technology has been in production for a long-time and enables a smartphone (or tablet) to detect where a user is looking. Essentially, your eyes will be capable of controlling the smartphone's user-interface controlling such things as scrolling or swiping.

The gaming sector has been pioneering Eye-Tracking technology for a while where it can be used to control an on-screen pointer. As mobile screen-sizes become bigger it'll be much easier to implement and much more accurate.

Eye-tracking technology utilises a mobile devices front-facing camera and clever software to detect where a user is currently looking. Assuming it works reliably it'll be a nice feature and one which could save a user time and effort.

However, we do have our doubts about how well it'll work and what happens when your just glancing away temporarily from the smartphones display. Furthermore, will it work for people with glasses or those unfortunate enough to have a lazy-eye ?

When will we learn more about the Galaxy S4 ?

The Samsung Galaxy S4 is going to be unveiled at a Samsung Unpacked event in New York on March 14th. The press event will be beamed to a public party in Times Square where we expect a famous pop artist to perform.

Previous rumours have already given us a good idea on what to expect from Samsung's smartphone and it's looking like quite a beast. We're hopeful the build-quality will be higher than the "plasticky" Galaxy S3 which was one of our only criticisms of Samsung's smartphone.
