LG formally announced seven new LG Optimus smartphones at Mobile World Congress last week and one of these was the LG Optimus F5. A new range called the Optimus F Series was introduced and this currently consists of two models - the Optimus F5 and the F7.
With upcoming smartphones like the Samsung Galaxy S4 and Apple’s iPhone 6 being talked about everyday and the recent launch of the Sony Xperia Z, BlackBerry Z10 and others, it seems the LG Optimus F5 ( above ) has been overshadowed to the extent it seems to have been overlooked.
However, lets not overlook this 4G phone from LG, as it is after all, part of the hugely popular LG Optimus series. The Optimus F5 is also 3G compatible but does not appear to support Three’s Ultrafast mobile network.
LG Optimus F5 – the specification
The Optimus F5 comes with Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean and should be classed as a mid-range 4G phone. It features a 4.3 inch IPS touch-screen with a display resolution of 960 x 540 and a PPI of 256. The New HTC One landed with a PPI of 468 so its clear the F5 definitely falls into the category of a mid-range smartphone.
The processing power for the Optimus F5 comes from its dual-core 1.2 GHz processor, 1GB of RAM and 8GB of on-board memory - with a microSD slot proving up to an additional 32GB of storage. The camera weighs in at only 5 megapixels. One of the key features of the F5 is its Qslide function which can be seen in the LG Optimus F5 promo video below. Qslide makes it easy to carry out cross-tasking with multiple Apps and to control window size, location and transparency.
LG Optimus F5 – is it coming to the UK ?
LG has confirmed that the LG Optimus F5 is on its way to Europe and although the manufacturer has not named to which countries, we see no reason why we won’t see the F5 in the UK within the next month or two. No news on pricing yet but we are sure it will be within the cheap range. More from 3G as we hear it.
