Blackberry 10 - First Update Available For Blackberry Z10 !

Blackberry Z10

The Blackberry 10 operating system was unveiled all the way back in May of last year. However, it was then delayed for six months before finally landing last month on the Blackberry Z10. While, the second Blackberry 10 smartphone, the Blackberry Q10, will be landing next month in the UK.

Blackberry have now released the first update for the Blackberry 10 platform which owners of the Blackberry Z10 can install right now. Like always you'll have to wait for your operator to roll-out the update , but you shouldn't have to wait too long.

What improvements does the new version of Blackberry 10 bring ?

The new version of Blackberry 10, 10.0.10.85, is a relatively minor update but it brings more than enough improvements to make it worth installing.

Firstly, third-party application performance has been improved meaning that developers can make even better applications for the Blackberry 10 platform. While, the Gmail Calender has been fixed and the Blackberry Hub is now better at logging calls.

After updating to the new version of Blackberry 10 users will benefit from improved low-light performance when using the Blackberry Z10's camera.  Additionally, the browser now performs better when playing video , while battery life is also improved thanks to 60 new optimisations.

How To Update To The New Version Of Blackberry 10

Blackberry have released the new version of Blackberry 10 over-the-air meaning that owners of the Blackberry Z10 should receive automatic notification when it becomes available. However, you can also check manually for the update in "Settings> Software Updates> Check for Updates".

As always we recommend you backup your data before installing the update just in-case anything goes wrong. The update comes in at 150MB so you might want to download it over WiFi rather than using your 3G data allowance.
