Apple's iRadio music streaming service has been delayed due to licensing problems. So when can we now expect iRadio to land on iOS devices ?
We first heard that Apple would be launching a music streaming service back in November, but the tech-giants are still yet to officially confirm their iRadio service. New information suggests that Apple's iRadio service won't launch until the Summer at the very earliest.
The information, reported by the New York Times, suggests that the delay is due to problems negotiating with the record companies over licenses. The record labels are notoriously hard to work with especially when it comes to offering their music free on steaming services.
Apple's iRadio is thought to have a free service which will be funded by iAds which provide customised adverts based on a users preferences and activity. While, it's also expected to have a premium ad-free service via a subscription-based model.
Apple will be keen to get their iRadio service active as soon as possible because the success of Pandora has shown that it's a huge growth area. The Pandora radio service now has over 60 million users across the world which gives you an indication how big iRadio could become !
Youtube are also thought to be working on a streaming music service which will launch on Android devices this year. We're not sure whether it'll be available on iOS devices , but if so then Apple really need to get a move on releasing iRadio.
As soon as 3G hear more about Apple's iRadio streaming music service we'll let you know.
