Vodafone UK Ties Up With Social Networking Startup
Vodafone UK has agreed that a new start-up company from New York called Foursquare can offer its location based service for mobile social networking to Vodafone's customer base.
The demo above of Foursquare by Tom from Vodafone Customer Support clearly shows that Vodafone are keen to offer this service to its customer base. Basically, it’s a social networking service which focuses on what your friends are doing and where they are.
Currently, Foursquare will work with any mobile phone which has access to the mobile internet and there is also an App which can be downloaded for the iPhone, Android, Blackberry and Palm mobile phones from their respective App store e.g. Android Market.
To get a quick and easy link to the Foursquare website just send a text message to 97886 with the word “Foursquare”. When you receive the link click on it to go to Foursqaure. If its your first visit you will need to spend a short amount of time registering.
The rest of the demo shows the main features of Foursquare. These are “Find your friends” and “Checkin”. Check out the demo above and start locating your friends.
