Yesterday, Nokia announced the Nokia C5 Smartphone with Social Networking which is aimed at the medium priced smartphone market. We hear at 3G.co.uk were also reminded of the new mobile phone naming strategy from Nokia.
With the arrival of the Nokia C5 it’s now confirmed that Nokia has four distinct series of mobile devices. These are the Xseries, Nseries, Eseries and the Cseries.
There also appears to be a new range of series numbering e.g. Nokia X6, Nokia X3 and Nokia C5. It also seems that the higher the number the pricier the device will be and the more features it has on-board. This strategy could be called “Easy-Peasy”.
The new numbering system from Nokia is aimed at making phone buying decisions a whole lot simpler. How exactly Nokia will initially get this message to its customer base we are not quite sure.
However, from what we have worked out to date the Nokia series can be defined as follows :
Nseries = flagship / trend setting mobile phones
Xseries = social and multimedia orientated
Eseries = business orientated and work like
Cseries = lower priced mid range portfolio
