Auto Trader, which is the UK’s most popular motoring website, has launched a new iPhone application.

The application uses image recognition to read the number plates on cars which is then used to find reviews about the car, specification and even to find similar models on sale with Auto Trader.

When looking for cars sold by Auto Trader the application will consider your location and find cars close to your physical location.

You can store any cars you’ve found that you like and photos you’ve taken in your virtual “garage” so that you can easily continue looking and come back and compare all the cars you’ve found.

The application also enables you to look for cars in the Auto Trader database in a conventional manner to find the car you want.
