Android Mobile Phones Get Gesture Search
![]() |
A new Google application called Gesture Search has been released for mobile phones running Android 2 and above. Those who don’t have Android 2 or above will need to update to this
The new Gesture Search app lets the user draw letter and character gestures to search for content on your phone. This could be for a contact, app or music track. It should be noted that you need a touch screen.
An example of how Gesture Search works is that you draw an A then a list of words beginning with A will be returned which are contained on your phone.
There is a fail safe facility which means that if you writing isn’t so good and your draw an A but Gesture Search thinks it’s an A or maybe an H, the A results are displayed on the main screen area whilst a H appears bottom left as shown above.
To download Gesture Search, search for it in Android Market. One point is that it is initially only available in the US so UK users will have to wait a short time before it appears to download.
