Swiftkey for Android

Swiftkey is now available to download free on Android devices, which is great news because the popular keyboard application used to cost $4.99 on Google Play.

Users who previously purchased the Swiftkey at full price will get a bundle of addition content worth the same price they paid for the app as compensation. Basically, it's a bundle of newly-introduced in-app purchases, including a range of keyboard designs and colours.

"We have made the decision to go free to better enable everyone, everywhere, to use SwiftKey’s market-leading technology without payment being a barrier. We're focused not only on reaching more users with our powerful technology, but on building great content and features to engage them," said Jon Reynolds, SwiftKey co-founder and CEO.

For those who havn't come across Swiftkey it's essentially an optimised keyboard that learns from an individuals habits to speed up typing. You can learn more about the application in the brief video below.

The latest version of Swiftkey enables users to add a row of numbers to the keyboard, supports even more languages (a total of over 60) and the auto correct has been improved.  More layouts have been added for difference devices and there are now over 30 themes to choose from.

You can download Swiftkey free from Google Play on all devices running Android version 2.2 or later. The company has also confirmed they are now working on a version of Swiftkey for iOS 8.
