LG’s latest and greatest phone, the LG G3, is here and Three is among the networks which will be stocking it. In anticipation of that the network has recorded a sneak peek video of the handset in action.
As you can see the standout feature is its 5.5 inch quad HD 2560 x 1440 display with a huge 534 pixels per inch. It’s truly an industry leading screen, but there’s more to the LG G3 than that.
Despite having such a big screen it doesn’t feel overly large thanks to tiny bezels, with the screen taking up 76.4% of the front of the phone in all.
It’s a very powerful phone too thanks to a 2.46GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor and its 3000 mAh battery will keep it going all day. When it does come time to charge the G3 supports wireless charging and the cover is removable so you can always swap out the battery too.
LG has also added a microSD card slot to its flagship this time around and the camera is a real star, thanks to a 13 megapixel sensor, a dual-LED flash for more natural colour reproduction and laser autofocus which autofocuses faster and more accurately.
Despite all this tech the G3 is just 146.3 x 74.6 x 8.9mm and 149g, while its plastic build looks more like metal than anything.
LG has worked on the interface too. Not only does it come with Android 4.4 but LG’s own overlay is slick and simplified and it supports Knock Code which lets you wake up and unlock the phone with a series of taps.
We recently went hands on with the LG G3 ourselves and came away impressed, especially with the screen, the camera and the design. Our only concern in the brief time we had with it was that the plastic finish might become chipped with wear and that could spoil the illusion of metal, but with any luck LG has made it tough enough to survive the odd knock and scrape.
Three isn’t yet taking orders for the G3 but will be soon and has advised users to keep an eye on its website for updates. The phone is set to launch on the UK on the 1st of July so expect pre-orders to go up sometime this month.
It’s worth noting though that Three’s video only talked about the 16GB of memory / 2GB of RAM version, but a 32GB of memory / 3GB of RAM version has also been announced by LG, so it may be worth holding out for that one.< Back
