Although not the first UK operator to do so, Three UK has now launched HD Voice on its 3G network in the U.K.

There is one important point to make is that HD Voice calls are only currently possible between Three users themselves and only if you have a HD enabled mobile phone from Nokia.

The phones that are currently enabled to take advantage of HD Voice on 3 UK are the Nokia C7, E7 or N8 plus the Nokia X7 and LG Optimus 3D when they arrive later this year.

HD Voice is currently only available on 3G networks and works by opening up the phone's audio range, allowing it to capture and transmit sounds across a wider band of frequencies making HD Voice calls sound clearer and more natural compared to a standard mobile or land line call. Background noise is greatly reduced too.
