Sony Ericsson has announced the Sony Ericsson Xperia X8, which follows closely after it announced the Cedar and Yendo earlier today.

 

The Xperia X8 is an entertainment smartphone that positions itself between the Xperia X10 and the X10 Mini.

 

It features the same four-corner UI as the Xperia X10 Mini which enables one-handed navigation and can be customised to launch your favourite applications in one-touch. It also features TimeScape, which first debuted on the Xperia X10, and enables access to all your favourite social networks at the touch of a button.

The Sony Ericsson Xperia X8 runs on the Android platform (version 1.6) and therefore supports all Google services and new applications can be downloaded from the Android market.

 

Feature-wise the Xperia X8 has a 3 inch touch-screen which is perfect for web-browsing and viewing multi-media content.  It also has a 3.2 mega-pixel camera for taking snaps for your social networking profile and the camera also doubles to record video.

 

Additional features include full 3G and WiFi support for rapid internet browsing, A-GPS for navigational needs, 3.5 mm audio jack, micro USB connectivity, USB support and a 2GB microSD card.

 

The Sony Ericsson Xperia X8 will launch in the 3rd Quarter of 2010 and will be available in a choice of White, Dark Blue/White, Aqua Blue/White , Pink/White and Silver/White.

 

In addition to this announcement Sony Ericsson also confirmed that the Xperia X10, X10 Mini and X10 Mini Pro will all be updated to run on Android 2.1 and this will happen in the 3rd Quarter of 2010.
