Samsung have announced a new mobile in its Corby range, the Samsung Corby Smartphone (i5500).

The Samsung Corby Smartphone will run on the Android platform, which is the first Samsung device to do so. The version that will feature is Android 2.1, which is not strictly the latest version but a very current one nonetheless.

A 2.8 inch touch-screen is present on the Corby Smartphone and the device is powered by a 600 Mhz mobile processor. Other features include a 2 mega-pixel camera, microSD support, A-GPS, Wi-Fi and 3G support and Bluetooth 2.1 connectivity.

The specification of the Corby Smartphone reflects the fact that it’ a mid-range mobile rather than a top end smartphone and may well be competing with the soon to be launch Xperia X10 Mini.
