Nokia Mobile Phone Numbering Strategy Revealed
![]() |
Someone has posted a photograph ( with French summary wording ) on the Mobile Review forum which proves for very interesting reading. This appears to be confirmation of Nokia’s mobile phone numbering system. The information is shown in the photo above ( via Mobile Review ) and shows five ranges of Nokia mobile phones.
Looking at these we see the Nokia N9 has now been added to the N Category ( previously NSeries ). The N range equates to the high end handsets. We can only guess that the Nokia N9 could become Nokia first handset running the MeeGo operating system.
Looking at the E, X and C ranges there could well be some new models on the way as numbers have been allocated or it could simply be to make the building blocks more balanced and complete. The E Category ( previously ESeires ) business range boasts the E5, E6 and E7.
The X Category ( the music range ) shows as the X2, X3,X5, X6 and X7. The X2, X3 and X6 phones we have seen. The C Category ( the basic range ) as you may expect sees the most models from C1 up to C7.
The S Category is confirmed as a category only with no specific phone models allocated to this category as yet. This is likely to be for handsets that don’t slot into any of the other categories
