Panasonic Deliver 3G Handsets

ASIA : Panasonic Mobile Ltd. (Yasuo Katsura, President) announced that the company has started shipments of FOMA 900iV mobile phones to NTT DoCoMo. This handset is especially characterized by sophisticated movie functions for easy use as well as recording and playback of high-quality videos.

The movie-style/viewer style handset folds for use like a video camera with the lower half serving as a handy grip and the main screen rotating up or down for convenient viewing on the QVGA size (320 × 240 dot) screen. It can record 15 frames per second (fps) up to 768 kbps and play back 30 fps up to 768 kbps. In addition to videos and still images stored in the phone, the videophone images can be viewed on a TV screen or projected on a larger screen using an optional cable.

The side CCD camera has an effective resolution of 1.95 mega pixels with a maximum of 12 × digital linear zoom lens. The front CMOS camera contains 100,000 pixels. It is compatible with miniSD memory cards up to 128 MB.

The FOMA P900iV allows continuous talk for 150 minutes, and on video calling for 90 minutes. When folded, it has a dimension of approx. 50 (width) ×102 (height) and 27 (thickness) mm with a weight of about 138 g.
