The agreement between HTC and Ericsson will enable HTC to create a complete wireless device portfolio across the major technologies EDGE and WCDMA. The agreement also combines the strengths of each company and can be seen as an industry milestone in wireless and datacom convergence, resulting in the development and supply of advanced, smart, handheld devices, both for voice and high-speed data services to consumer and business users. As one of the most respected Windows CE-based device ODMs (original design manufacturers), HTC is bringing on board their vast experience from development of PDAs. HTC is also the first company to launch wireless Pocket PCs and Smartphone based on Microsoft OS. Ericsson Mobile Platforms is providing their extensive package of field-proven, end-to-end integrated solutions, containing hardware, the software platform, complete network signaling stack, and an open Application Programming Interface (API).
