LG G Watch available now

The LG G Watch is arguably the poster child for Android Wear. It was the first Android Wear device to be announced, it was the focus of the Android Wear reveal at Google I/O and it’s one of the first Android Wear devices available.

It may not have a heart rate monitor like the Samsung Gear Live or a fancy round face like the Moto 360, but that all just serves to further highlight the core Android Wear experience on it.

So with the G Watch you get Android Wear, a largely voice controlled spin on Android which can be used to reply to messages, search for information, check train times, track activity, run apps and a whole lot more, as well as presenting you with notifications and other information as and when you need it.

The G Watch has a plain, minimalist design intended to fit any person, look or wrist size, though its 1.65 inch IPS LCD 280 x 280 display makes it a little chunkier than most normal watches. Its exact dimensions, if you’re wondering, are 37.9 x 46.5 x 9.95mm and it weighs 63g.

It has a 1.2GHz Snapdragon 400 processor, 512MB of RAM and a 400 mAh battery which promises all day life even though the display is always on.

The LG G Watch is also IP67 certified dust and water resistant, has a changeable strap and is available to pre-order now for just £159, making it £10 cheaper than Samsung’s first Android Wear watch.

It’s available in ‘Black Titan’ or ‘White Gold’ and if ordered now from Google Play it should be dispatched on the 4th of July.
