iPhone 5S Set To Feature Fingerprint Sensor : iOS 7 Beta Includes Fingerprint Support

Evidence is mounting that the iPhone 5S will have a fingerprint sensor !

Earlier this week we reported that Apple will unveil the iPhone 5S on September 6th , which is still to be confirmed by Apple themselves. Infact, we know very little about the smartphone itself but previous rumours have suggested it'll have a fingerprint sensor.

We're becoming more and more convinced that'll be the case - with the latest iOS 7 beta including biometric fingerprint sensor support. Source-code inside a folder called "BiometricKITUI" in the iOS 7 beta references a "Photo of a person holding an iPhone with their right hand, while touching the home-button with their thumb".

It's the biggest hint so far that Apple are going to incorporate fingerprint technology in the future. It's been on the cards ever since they acquired AuthenTec last year , whose technology will power Apple's fingerprint sensors. The iPhone 5S is the obvious candidate to introduce fingerprint technology !

Presumably, Apple will introduce a whole new home button with fingerprint technology. It's also possible that the physical home-button will be removed - switching instead to an on-screen touch button. That would also enable Apple to respectively add fingerprint sensors to their older devices.

We expect to learn more at the rumoured iPhone 5S launch event at the start of September. As soon as we get more news we'll let you know. Until then you might want to read about Apple iPhone 5C - the rumoured more affordable iPhone.
