ZTE have announced on their Twitter account that they are going to unveil a new gaming smartphone on the 18th July.

This is the first time 3G have heard about the launch of the ZTE gaming smartphone, which we presume will be attempting to take on Sony's Xperia Play . Sadly, ZTE havn't given any information about the smartphone at all other than claiming it'll be "one of the most advanced gaming smartphones".

We presume it'll come with some kind of built-in gaming controller, similar to the Xperia Play's sliding game-pad, or at the very least USB support to connect gaming controllers. The display is one of the most important things in a gaming smartphone and we expect ZTE to include a 720p display with a wide-screen resolution.

When playing games the smoothness of the expierence, which is dictated by the frames-per-second, is also one of the most important factors. For that reason we expect the ZTE gaming smartphone to come with a high-end processor and GPU , such a quad-core chipset !

One thing we're unsure about is what version of Android the ZTE gaming smartphone will run on. Our heads tell us it'll be Android Ice Cream Sandwich or Gingerbreaddue to the amount of games already available for the platforms, but our hearts want it to come with Android Jelly Bean.

As soon as ZTE announced their new gaming smartphone you'll be the first to know.
