The new version of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 was announced back in June and was thought to be a response to the Apple announcing the iPad 2.

The new thinner version of the Galaxy Tab 10.1 now has a release date which has been confirmed as August 5th. The WiFi version of the Galaxy Tab 10.1 will be exclusive to PC World and Dixons for one-month after its August 5th launch.

The Samsung Galaxy Tablet 10.1 is much thinner than the original version and is even thinner than the Apple iPad 2. It comes with 10.1 inch touch-screen that runs on at a resolution of 1280*800  which provides fantastic quality for browsing and multimedia playback. It's powered by a 1 GHz dual-core processor that gives it amazing power for gaming, video playback and multi-tasking.

The Galaxy Tablet 10.1 was expected to launch on Android 3.1 , which provides many new features to tablets including an improved user-interface and many application improvements. However, the flagship improvement is support for USB devices including keyboard, mice and even gaming controllers (including Xbox and PS3). External hard-drives are also supported, as well as docking stations.

The only downside to the new Samsung Galaxy 10.1 is the reduction in the rear-facing camera which has been downgraded from 8 mega-pixels  to 3 mega-pixels.

The WiFi version of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 will be for £399 from PC World , Currys or Dixons while the 3G version will be available generally with Vodafone already confirming they'll stock the device.
