HTC Desire Gingerbread Coming In July

HTC originally stated that the Desire wouldn't be getting upgraded to Android Gingerbread (2.3), but have since changed their policy.

The original reasoning was that the HTC Desire wouldn't be capable of running both Gingerbread and the HTC Sense interface due to memory limitations.

In response to demand from owners of the smartphone, HTC found a way to run both. Essentially, they are removing some of the applications from the Gingerbread update in order to free memory for HTC Sense.

HTC have now announced on their Facebook page that the Gingerbread update will be launching at the end of July, which is later than expected. However, it's not simple to get such an old mobile to run on the latest in mobile operating system technology so we'll forgive the short delay.

Like always with updates to your mobile those with Desire's locked to a network will have to wait for their operator to release the update.
