Vodafone VF 247 Solar Powered Mobile Announced
![]() |
Vodafone has announced a new solar powered mobile that will launch in India.
The Vodafone 247 aims to address the lack of electricity in rural Indian towns by featuring an extended solar battery. India is also a perfect location because it gets more than adequate sunlight to ensure your mobile will be easy to charge.
The VF 247 also features Sun Boost technology which means it will charge in a room under normal daylight, as opposed to requiring direct exposure.
To fully charge the VF 247 you need to expose it to 8 hours of direct sunlight. Although this may seem like a lot it will give you eight days of standby time and 4 hours of talktime, which is a truly impressive amount.
In terms of features it has an FM radio, Colour screen and a torch for when darkness comes. Its on sale for 1,500 Rupees which is around £20.
