Nokia MeeGo Mist Clears

Back in February this year, Maemo and Moblin were combined and renamed as MeeGo , by Nokia and Intel. We heard that the first MeeGo mobile from Nokia would launch sometime in 2010 - see here. Nokia confirmed App development  was underway back in April ( see here) and now we get a chance to see exactly at what stage Nokia and Intel are at with MeeGo development.

Nokia has released some screenshots and a video of the MeeGo 1.1 user inerface. The images can be seen below and the video above. They have been released as part of the MeeGo Handset user experience project which is currently underway.

Nokia is believed to be preparing MeeGo to power Nseries smartphones such as the Nokia N9 while Symbian is being primed for lower end smartphones. The video below shows MeeGo 1.1 running on an Intel Aava phone and offers a developer preview build insight.

If you are interested in the code the following is extracted from the MeeGo blog "This code is being actively developed as MeeGo 1.1, which is scheduled for release in October. The MeeGo UI team has also been busy creating the handset reference user experience and preparing the MeeGo UI design principles and interaction guidelines. This milestone marks the completion of the merger of Moblin and Maemo as major architecture decisions and technical selections have been determined. Today, we are also opening the MeeGo Build Infrastructure."

The video above confirms that Nokia are at Development Preview release stage with MeeGo . This shows that many Apps are already up and running such as Picture App,  SMS App. People App, Dialer App and then the Browser is featured.

As soon as we hear more we will post it here.
