LG has become the latest company to announce they will be joining the tablet revolution led by Apple with its iPad.

The LG Tablet will run on the Android operating system, which suggests they are going for direct competition with the iPad because they could have chosen the more desktop PC based Windows 7 operating system for a more PC-like tablet device.

Earlier this year LG announced they would launch a UX10 tablet which ran on Windows  7 and featured a 10.1 inch touch-screen. Whether this has now been abandoned in favour of the Android tablet we don't know. This version featured a Atom processor, 1GB ram , 1.3 mega-pixel camera , microSD support and a HDMI output. It's possible this new Android tablet will have a similar specification.

LG has a lot of competition in the tablet arena with the iPad and Dell Streak already with installed user-bases. Other tablets that will launch in the near future include the Android based Samsung Galaxy Tape and the new HP tablet which will run on the WebOS which they acquired from Palm.

Once we get more news we'll let you know.
