Blackberry Smartphone Users Get Protected
![]() |
BlackBerry Protect is a new App which aims to make protecting your BlackBerry smartphone a whole lot easier. BlackBerry Protect offers much more than you may, at first, imagine. Its currently in Beta version, undergoing final validations prior to release.
BlackBerry Protect allows you the ability to wirelessly backup, restore and locate your BlackBerry smartphone. In the event that your BlackBerry smartphone is misplaced, lost or stolen, BlackBerry Protect provides features like: remote device wipe, remote device lock, ‘Lost and Found' screen, locate device on a map, remote activation of the BlackBerry smartphone loud ringer, and wireless device backup and restore.
Loud ring is one of the best features of BlackBerry Protect . If you lose your Blackberry, simply log into the BlackBerry Protect web portal where you can activate the loud ring feature - this makes your BlackBerry smartphone ring loudly for one minute, even if you had the profile set to silent. Longer too if you require it.
If you lose your Blackberry you need to do two things via BlackBerry Protect. Firstly, you want to make sure that if someone finds it they can't access any of your personal information and secondly you want to locate your Blackberry. This is acheived by :
- You would log onto the BlackBerry Protect web portal and lock your BlackBerry smartphone and set a password.
- Then using the ‘lost and found' screen at BlackBerry Protect web portal, upload a message to your Blackberry and contact information in case the device is found and the person wants to contact you.
- Still using BlackBerry Protect web portal, you can use the ‘view current location feature', which will use the built-in GPS functionality in most BlackBerry smartphones to help show you the current location of your BlackBerry smartphone. This will give you a good idea of where to find it ( see photo above ).
As soon as BlackBerry Protect is fully available we will post it here.
