The latest internet rumours suggest that Android 3.0 (Gingerbread) will launch in October of this year.
Android 2.2 has only just started launching on Android smartphones with only the Google Nexus One receiving the update at this time. However, news of an even newer version are already surfacing.
It's been suggested that the Android 3.0 will be released only on high specification devices, namely those with 4 inch screens. According to Russian podcast Digestiv, the minimum requirements for Android 3.0 will be a 1 GHz CPU, 512 MB of RAM and at least a 3.5 inch touch-screen display.
Android Gingerbread will apparently have a redesigned UI, which will bring the OS into modern times with something stylish and simplistic. Additionally , the new version will run at a high resolution of 1280 * 760 which enables high quality on larger screens.
Once we hear more about Android 3.0 we'll bring you more.
