LG World Cup Begins

World : LG have revealed the start of the LG Mobile World Cup 2009, which is an annual festival that aims to find the worlds fastest texter. The first even will take place in Indonesia with the conclusion of the World Cup taking place in America in November.

 

The LG Mobile World cup hopes to spread mobile fun throughout the world, with the events cat phrase being "Sharing Fun Through Mobile Technology". During the festival many more activities will take place, including game tournaments , user created mobile pop art competition a celebrity gala concert as well as the main texting competition.

 

This year, LG expanded MOBILE WORLDCUP from four to sixteen participating countries and a total prize pool of US $1 million, the largest purse for an event of its kind. The first National Championship will be held at the Jakarta Theater in Indonesia on the 15th of August four weeks after the commencement of the national league and other related mobile events. The 200 fastest texters will compete for the final prize of 100 million rupiah (approximately US $9,900). The National Championship will continue from July to October across five continents and 13 countries, including Vietnam, Malaysia, South Africa, Mexico, Spain, Portugal, Colombia, Argentina, Brazil, Peru, Russia, China and South Korea.

 

The final of the World Cup will take place in American in November, where all the 16 champions from the previous rounds will gather to compete for a prize of $100,000. The texting tournament will take place using LG

devices and will take place in front of a live audience over several rounds.

 

LG launched the Mobile World Cup premise last year , as an event to celebrate mobile culture and lifestyle. The event was a roaring success with 700,000 contestants entering in South Korea, Brazil , Canada and the United States.
