US : Microsystems announced that Java Platform Micro Edition (Java ME - see above ) is integrated in the new HP iPAQ 900 series Business Messenger smartphone. Based on the Sun Java(TM) Wireless Client software Sun's Java ME implementation for wireless handsets and enhanced with custom features designed specifically for HP, the new HP 3G smartphone delivers a flexible wireless e-mail experience1, including convenient voice2 control and hands-free operation.

Sun Engineering Services delivered the Java ME binary implementation customized and tuned to a specific feature set requested by HP. The Sun Java Wireless Client software integrates with the Windows Mobile 6.1 native user interface, enabling customers to view e-mail in the original HTML format, access contact information and much more through a familiar operating environment.
