Europe : Intrado Inc., a global provider of dynamic communications systems, announced today that 3, the Italian mobile video company of the Hutchison Whampoa Group, has deployed an advanced call completion solution and core network messaging infrastructure from HP and bmd wireless, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Intrado. With the new solution deployed, 3 now provides subscribers with new value-added message services that enhance the user experience. HP and bmd wireless have implemented innovative call completion solutions that enable 3 subscribers to receive an SMS (short message service) notification when another 3 user becomes reachable. These new services are an extension to bmd's Personal Call Collector (PCC), which was successfully deployed in the 3 network by HP and bmd in 2003. HP Services provided overall project management including consulting and integration services. The PCC solution is tightly integrated with the HP OpenCall SS7 platform, the world leader in off-switch signaling software. HP also provides the hardware platforms, HP AlphaServers running the Tru64 operating system. "HP and bmd wireless continue to deliver solutions that enable 3 to provide innovative new subscriber services while optimizing network resources and capacity," said Georges Perez, 3 Chief Technical Officer. "We are very pleased with this productive partnership." "Working closely with HP and 3 Italy, bmd wireless designed and developed our call completion solutions to fully incorporate all features and functionality that deliver customer convenience. These platforms address current and future market needs and serve as a business tool to allow our customers to increase data revenues and differentiate service offerings," said Brian Rueger, Managing Director of bmd wireless. "Operators are focused on their customers, and they need technology partners who can help them get to market quickly with complete, turnkey solutions that are integrated into their networks," said Philippe Candela, manager, Integrated Network Elements and Go-to-Market Programs, HP OpenCall Business Unit. "With key partners like bmd wireless, HP is helping operators reduce cost, reduce risk, and increase business agility."
