Surround Sound For i-mode Mobile

2nd July 2003

Japan : NTT DoCoMo announced today that from July 4, 2003 they will market the N505i, the first 505i model offering a dual speaker system with surround sound capability.

The N505i features Twin Window, which enables screen splitting, for example, to type a reply while viewing the received message. It also comes with Access Reader, enabling the phone's camera to work like a scanner for convenient reading and storage of URLs, mail addresses and telephone numbers appearing in magazines and other printed materials.

This is the fourth model in the 505i series of enhanced 2G handsets. Equipped with a Flash™ browser, 505i handsets can access a broad range of rich content and applications with highly fluid animation.

The N505i also comes with 64-polyphonic ringing melodies, a 2.4-inch, 262.144 QVGA high-resolution screen, and a built-in CMOS camera with an effective resolution of 320,000 pixels.

The handset accepts up to 32MB miniSD cards, and the 16MB miniSD that come with the handset stores up to fourteen 90-second video clips or about 2,300 photos saved in the i-shot™ small-size format.

The N505i is also equipped for i-appli DX™, the enhanced i-appli™ service providing access to a wide range of content and applications. Downloadable Java applications enable users to highly customize layout and other features of the N505i's address book and call log, as well as i-mode mail services.

The N505i will be available through all DoCoMo sales channels. The price of the handset including miniSD card and adaptor will be open (unfixed). The standard accessory kit, including battery pack, AC adaptor and desktop holder, will cost 5,700 yen *.

For details on standard function of the 505i series, please refer to the press release issued on April 8, 2003, located on the company's website at www.nttdocomo.com.
