New 3G FOMA F2102V Videophone

1st July 2003

ASIA : NTT DoCoMo, announced marketing of the FOMA F2102V mobile videophone, the first model compatible with DoCoMo's new FirstPass™ SSL client authentication service, beginning July 3. The model also features videophone, enhanced audio quality and the longest continuous stand-by time of any FOMA handset.

F2102V compatible with FirstPass, ensures enhanced network security for mobile payments and other e-commerce transactions over the FOMA network.

Advanced Audio Coding (AAC) audio compression provides CD-quality sound for applications such as DoCoMo's i-motion™ video clip service. Sound quality is also enhanced by the phone's dual sound speaker system.

The clamshell-design handset offers the longest continuous stand-by time among FOMA handsets, approximately 310 hours of static stand-by time, and about 240 hours dynamic stand-by time.

The F2102V is equipped with an outer CCD camera (330,000 effective pixels) and inner CCD camera (110,000 effective pixels), and an auxiliary light for videos and photos in dim lighting. It also features 3x digital zoom, 5-shot continuous still shooting and video recording of clips up to 90 seconds long.

The model accepts miniSD cards for storing still images and video clips. Using miniSD adapter, the card can be used in standard-size SD-compatible devices.

The F2102V comes with an industry-first desktop holder that is fitted with its own USB cable, which can be linked to a PC to back up the phone's scheduler and address book, or transfer images, while the phone is recharging (requires separate data-synchronizing software).

The FOMA F2102V will be available through all DoCoMo sales channels. The price of the handset itself will be open (unfixed), and its standard accessory kit, including battery pack, AC adapter and desktop holder will cost 4,700 yen*.

Fore more details on the FirstPass service, please refer to the press release issued on June 20, 2003, located on the company's website
