Console like gaming arrives on wireless phones
1st August 2002

TTP Communications announces that LG Electronics and Innostream as the first customers for WGE Games, its wireless gaming solution. This technology brings a console-like gaming experience to the mobile phone and also allows over the airdownloads of new games, enabling users to personalise their handsets with the latest and best games. The Korean based manufacturers are licensing the platform for their latest handsets for Asia and Europe, which should be commercially available later this year.

Tony Milbourn, TTPCom's Managing Director, stated 'Korea has a very well developed games industry and both LG Electronics and Innostream were quick to recognise that the games offered by WGE Games are far more sophisticated than
those available on most other handsets.' He added 'Mobile gaming is a growing area that has the potential to significantly increase operator's revenues and WGE Games offers our customers a strong differentiating feature in their handsets'.

Gijong Lim, Innostream's CEO, commented 'The dynamic nature of WGE Games
resembles those found on PC networks, bringing greater excitement to end users
than ordinary mobile phone games in Korea. With large colour LCD screens, 40
polyphonic tones and with WGE, our mobile terminals are sophisticated
entertainment consoles'.

WGE Games runs on TTPCom's Wireless Graphics Engine (WGE) and several of the
world's leading games developers including ITE, Hailstorm and Tuna Technologies
have signed up to develop content for WGE. Licensees of WGE can access a vast
catalogue of games from this growing development community, including ITE's game
'Hugo and the Evil Mirror', which is a popular game on the NintendoTM Game Boy
ColourTM. The latest games can be ported to WGE within a number of days.

WGE's small memory footprint makes it ideal for integration in low cost mass
market handsets. The WGE Games application is written in C++, the standard
language used by application developers, meaning that games can quickly be
ported from existing gaming platforms to run on mobile phones. WGE also
supports the acceleration of all JavaTM applications, and enables manufacturers
to quickly develop graphically enhanced and user-friendly MMIs (man-machine
interfaces) for a rich user experience.
