New Sharp Sha-Mail Wireless Phone launched

J-PHONE Co announced it will begin selling its newest Sha-Mail (picture messaging) handset, the "J-SH09" manufactured by Sharp Corporation, in late August. Main characteristics of the J-SH09 are as follows:

" Integrated seven color "mobile light" that supports photography at low light levels

" Highly sensitive CCD mobile embedded camera with 310,000 pixel resolution. Close-up function allows for close-up photos up to 5cm away

" Choice of 3 different picture modes: "Sha-Mail" mode, "Digital Camera Mode" (VGA Mode) and "Action Snap Mode" (10 seconds maximum of motion recording including sound)" 2.1 inch advanced TFT color LCD (maximum 16,700,000 displayable colors with JPEG images via software processing)

" Built-in large-size 0.9 inch 65,536 GF color LCD sub-display" Can store approximately 1,000 JPEG images with 5MB of high capacity memory

" "Disney Style" displays and ringtones can be set, allowing users enjoy Disney characters and sounds

J-PHONE is bringing the pleasures of "Sha-Mail" to even more individuals with the release of the "J-SH09"; Sha-Mail handsets now total 18 (4 of which are capable of "Movie Sha-Mail", or video messaging).

J-PHONE will continue to develop advanced mobile products and services to provide even richer communication options to businesses and individuals.

*Note: the J-SH09 is exclusively for use in Japan on PDC networks

Main Features of the J-SH09 (Manufactured by Sharp Corporation)
(1) Integrated seven color "mobile light" supports photography at low light levels
The J-SH09 comes with an embedded "mobile light" for mobile camera photography in dark places. One can choose from seven color lighting options when taking photos. When receiving calls, the light can be set to one of five different colors by caller. By double-clicking on the "side key" to the side of the handset, the mobile light can also be used as a small spotlight.

(2) Highly sensitive CCD mobile embedded camera with 310,000 pixel resolution
The J-SH09's camera is approximately 5 times more sensitive than that of the previous J-SH08 model and is able to take pictures at candlelight illumination levels. The close-up picture function can take photos of up to 5cm distances (approx.).

(3) Different Photography Modes
Sha-Mail Mode
Photos can be adjusted to three different sizes (120 x 160, 120 x 128, and 60 x 80 pixels) on the main display and sub-display. Four consecutive shots can be taken with one shutter snap. Other picture processing features such as framing options are included.
Digital Camera Mode
Pictures can be taken and saved in VGA mode (640 x 480 pixels). By using cables and software available in stores, images can be transferred to a PC for processing and printing.
Action Snap Mode
10 seconds maximum of motion video, including sound, can be recorded and played back on the handset.

(4) "Disney Style" displays and ringtones give the handset a Disney flavor
By setting their handset to "Disney Style" on the handset display menu, users can change standby screens, mail sending and receiving, battery status and other display screens and ring tones to Disney animation and sounds.
