Powerwave
Technologies and Filtronic announced that they have formed a strategic
alliance to jointly develop and supply integrated radio frequency (RF)
power amplifier and RF conditioning unit solutions for the 3G wireless
infrastructure base station market. This agreement creates the opportunity
to combine the resources of Powerwave, the leading independent supplier
of high performance RF power amplifiers, with Filtronic, the leading
designer and manufacturer of RF conditioning products. The Powerwave-Filtronic
alliance will build on each partner’s strong relationships with
the world’s leading wireless infrastructure OEM customers to offer
a single source for high performance and cost effective integrated RF
products for 3G wireless networks.

This alliance provides a platform for Powerwave and Filtronic to combine their industry leading experience in the design and manufacturing of RF subsystems. The companies will work together in an integrated design effort with the goal of providing a high performance cost effective integrated solution for use in 3G base stations throughout the world. In addition, the companies have also agreed to explore the potential inclusion of Filtronic’s gallium arsenide based power amplifier gain module into joint integrated solutions and selected future Powerwave products.
