New 3G WCDMA Network Optimization Solution

Enabling network planning and optimization personnel to spend more time engineering and less time collecting data and developing reports, Metatron Technologies announced the availability of their WCDMA network testing and optimization solution.

Designed for 3G voice and data networks, the WCDMA optimization suite works
with the DimensionZ(TM) platform to shorten and automate the labor-intensive
process of testing and optimizing wireless networks.

This capability enables wireless operators and infrastructure vendors to bring new WCDMA networks to commercial service faster and more efficiently than previous methods. "Metatron is one of the first companies to deliver a working WCDMA

The WCDMA optimization suite includes several components that enable the
DimensionZ platform to test and optimize WCDMA networks. The suite includes:

-- WCDMA Phone/User Equipment (UE) Component -- an interface that gives
DimensionZ the ability to control, collect and correlate measurement
data from specific WCDMA phones.
-- WCDMA Scanner Component -- an interface that gives DimensionZ the
ability to control, collect and correlate measurement data from WCDMA
scanning receivers such as the Anritsu 8720B.
-- WCDMA Analyzer Component -- a customizable, real-time display of raw
and analyzed WCDMA data synchronized and correlated to provide
engineers with only the specific information needed to address specific
engineering questions.
-- WCDMA Layer 3 Message Viewer -- a component that captures and decodes
WCDMA layer 3 messages to verify proper network connectivity.
-- WCDMA Report Generator -- an easy to use interface to generate WCDMA
performance reports.

The WCDMA optimization suite and DimensionZ platform create a complete
WCDMA testing and optimization solution. Once the suite is installed, all
DimensionZ components can be utilized for optimizing WCDMA networks. This
includes Opera(TM) for voice quality testing, TransIT(TM) for data quality
testing, the Drive Test Assistant for automating drive test planning, the
Algorithm Engine for customized processing, and a variety of displays for data
presentation.

The WCDMA suite and DimensionZ platform are available in several packages
that are formulated based on the specific needs of mobile operators. The
packages include: Data Collection, Field Analysis, Replay Analysis, and
post-processing. Components can be purchased individually and added to an

DimensionZ
This single application supports all aspects of data collection, analysis,
processing, reporting, and propagation mapping. The modular design delivers
an ideal platform to integrate multiple data streams (e.g. Phone Data, Layer 3
Messages, Scanning Receiver Information, Switch Statistics, Coverage Arrays,
and Call Detail Records). Using plug-in functionality upgrades, DimensionZ is
quickly customizable. It provides radio frequency (RF) engineers with a
universal window into the technology-specific data they need to examine. The
simulation tools shorten the optimization process, and the CAD functionality
provides detailed propagation mapping. The resulting operational efficiency
yields higher quality service to wireless customers while increasing bottom-
line profitability of the network operator.
