J-Phone announced plans to launch two new "Sha-Mail" capable handsets in July, 2002. The handsets are the J-D06 "graphica" (Mitsubishi) and the J-T07 (Toshiba).

J-D06 "graphica" (Manufacturer: Mitsubishi)

J-T07 (Manufacturer: Toshiba)

1. Main features

(1) Supersensitive CCD mobile camera that creates clearer imagery

The highly sensitive CCD mobile camera has succeeded in reducing noise, image distortion and blur. The camera's enhanced light sensitivity enables the user to take a clear and bright picture even in a dimly lighted room. In addition, the camera has a 2MB memory for image storage that enables you to record up to 500 pictures.

(2) 2.1 inch polysilicon TFT LCD with enhanced resolution

The 2.1-inch, 65,536-color enlarged polysilicon TFT LCD offers the resolution of 144 x 176 dots (QCIF size), the highest among all mobile handsets currently available. The clearly visible screen can also create smooth and attractive colour gradation. The LCD has made a technological breakthrough by achieving lightness and high resolution at the same time to display the Sha-Mail picture you have received more clearly.

(3) Sparkling illumination that generates a vivid image of bursting bubbles

The LED on the back of the body is illuminated while a call or mail is sent or received.
The user can set the 7 patterns of illumination to indicate the party sending a call or mail while the phone is folded. If the phone receives unregistered data, the illumination flashes colours to indicate the type of signals being received.

(4) "Mobile Rupo" with character selection prediction function

Toshiba's Japanese word-processing engine "Mobile Rupo" contains approx. 120,000 words. The user can compose mail more easily as the engine "learns" with repeated word-processing usage and "predicts" character selection based on your past mail-writing history.
