The MPEG-4 standard is quickly emerging as a compelling streaming video format for mobile media, said Ron Nydam, Pinnacle Systems Broadband Business Manager. By adding MPEG-4 encoding to StreamFactory, we are providing wireless service companies with a flexible, mixed-format, mission-critical encoding solution that meets both wired and wireless audio and video delivery requirements. We are pleased to partner with PacketVideoa pioneer with in-depth understanding of the unique challenges presented by the delivery of media to mobile devices. StreamFactory products will implement support for MPEG-4 encoding in the same StreamFactory HTML interface whose flexibility, ease-of-use and remote management capability have made it the choice of enterprise and carrier-class operations worldwide. StreamFactorys MultiStream functionality enables it to encode up to four simultaneous streams in any combination of MPEG-4, Real, Windows Media, and QuickTime formats. We are pleased that Pinnacle has selected PacketVideos MPEG-4 encoding technology for incorporation into the StreamFactory family, said Ed Knapp, PacketVideo Chief Technology Officer. The proliferation of MPEG-4 live and pre-recorded content that results from our partnership will enable mobile operators and content providers to deliver compelling services to the exciting new generation of mobile devices now available to consumers. StreamFactory, when combined with PacketVideos pvServer, provides a robust content encoding and delivery solution that is scalable to increasing numbers of mobile users. Availability MPEG-4/PacketVideo-enabled StreamFactory systems and upgrades for existing customers are available through Pinnacles worldwide network of Broadband Solutions resellers starting this July. |
