Archos unveil a 4G smartphones priced under £200
Archos are the latest company to jump the gun after they unveiled their latest smartphones ahead of the start of CES 2014, which officially begins tomorrow. The French manufacturer has unveiled two new affordable mobiles which both support 4G.
The Archos Helium 45 and the Helium 50 come pre-loaded with Android Jelly Bean (4.3) and share a number of common components. Both have a quad-core 1.4GHz processor, 1GB of RAM, Adreno 305 GPU, microSD support and 4G, WiFi, and Bluetooth 3.0 connectivity.
“The ARCHOS Helium 4G smartphones will once again change consumers’ mindsets by making the best possible technology affordable.” says Loïc Poirier, CEO of ARCHOS.
The 50 Helium 4G is the larger of the two smartphones with a 5-inch display (1280*720p) and comes with 8GB of storage, an 8 mega-pixel camera and a 2 mega-pixel front-facing camera. It'll be available across Europe later this year and will be priced at £239.99.
As you may have already worked out the Helium 45 4G comes with a 4.5 inch touch-screen, which runs at a slightly lower 854-by-480 resolution. The onboard memory is reduced to 4GB, while the camera is cut down to 5 mega-pixel and it only has a front-facing VGA camera. But the changes mean that the smartphone will be available for just £199.99.
