Android KitKat coming to older Samsung Galaxy S3 and Samsung Galaxy Note 2

Android KitKat bump coming in March to Samsung Galaxy S3 and Samsung Galaxy Note 2.

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 users have already started to get Android KitKat in Europe whilst Samsung Galaxy S4 users can expect an update to KitKat in January or February.

But what about other big-hitters like the Samsung Galaxy S3 and Samsung Galaxy Note 2 which have both achieved sales of over 10 million, since they launched in 2012. That’s up to 20 million users potentially waiting for an upgrade to KitKat.

The good news for these users, according to a new leak from inside Samsung’s software department, is that both will get KitKat (Android 4.4.2) by the end of Q1 (March).

Androidgeeks reported that ” The user interface changes will be minor and that the update will not bring any new software features”. However, once updated to KitKat the much liked transparent status bar and other goodies including the new full-screen immerse mode will swing into action.

KitKat will begin rolling out to Galaxy S3 and Note 2 users in late March, but no timing has been confirmed for the UK. So until we hear more we all need to hang on a bit longer.
