Tablets are going to have a huge presence at CES 2014 and Acer have already got the ball rolling by unveiling 3 new tablets.

The Acer Iconia W4 (pictured above) is the only one of the tablets that runs on the Windows 8.1 platform and it comes pre-loaded with Microsoft Office Home and Student 2013. It has a 8.1 inch IPS display (1280x800 pixels) that utilises 'Zero Gap Technology' which removes the air between the touch-panel and the LCD module reducing reflections and improving outdoor readability.

Acer's Windows tablet is powered by a 4th generation Intel Atom processor running at 1.8GHz and comes in a choice of either 32 or 64GB storage (and microSD support). It weighs just 415g and is just 10.5mm thick and packs in a 5MP and a front-facing 2MP snapper.

The Acer Iconia W4 will be available to buy at the end January and is priced at €299 (£250). Like all of Acer's new tablets it can also be hooked up to the Acer Crunch Keyboard (available separately) which adds a full QWERTY keyboard.

Prefer the Android platform? Then you might be more interested in the Acer Iconia A1-830 which is a stylish, premium tablet that comes pre-loaded with Android Jelly Bean (4.2.1).

The tablet is essentially an updated version of the Iconia Tab A1-810 which launched last year. The new model has a 7.9 inch IPS display (1024*768 pixels) and is powered by a 1.6GHz Intel Atom processor, has 1GB of RAM, 16GB of onboard memory (with microSD support).

What sets the tablet apart from the crowd is its design. Acer's tablet is made from aluminum and is slimline (8.15mm) and lightweight (380g) and a premium metal design is pretty rare in a tablet in this price bracket. Prices will start at just €169 (£140) when it touches down at the end of February.

The final new tablet is the 3rd generation of the Acer Iconia B1 which is aimed at 'young or new users or families looking for an additional tablet for their children'. The 7 inch Android tablet is powered by a dual-core 1.3GHz processor, has 1GB of RAM and comes with a front-facing camera.

The new model is faster, has better battery life and an improved touch-screen. It'll be available to buy at the end of January with prices starting at €129 (£110). Acer also unveiled a new Android smartphone at the same press event and you can read all about it here.
