ZTE are rumoured to be working on an affordable 5 inch smartphone which will be a toned-down version of the Grand S. ZTE unveiled their flagship Grand S which at CES earlier this month.
Images of the new smartphone, codenamed the ZTE U956, have been leaked by Gizchina.com. We've posted the pictures in this article although they don't really reveal much because the ZTE U956 looks like any other modern smartphone.
Thankfully, the leaked images were accompanied by a rumoured specification. Apparently, the U956 will have a 5 inch touch-screen which runs at a resolution of 1280*720 pixels, which is still a great display even if it has a significantly lower PPI than ZTE's Grand S.
Other areas where costs have been cut include the processor, which ditches the Snapdragon quad-core processor in favour of a more affordable Mediatek MT6589 quad-core chip. Apparently, it'll also have an 8 mega-pixel camera and will ship with Android Jelly Bean.
The end-result of these changes is that the ZTE U956 should cost around £200. At the moment we don't have any idea when the ZTE U956 or whether it'll even be available in the UK. However, as soon as any news breaks we'll make sure to let you know !
