ZTE have announced a new phablet called the ZTE Grand S at CES 2013 , which is currently taking place in Las Vegas. The ZTE Grand S is ZTE's flagship Android smartphone which features 5 inch touch-screen and looks set to lock horns with Samsung's Galaxy Note 2.
So what specification does the ZTE Grand S have ?
The Grand S's 5 inch touch-screen runs at a resolution of 1920*1080 pixels making it ZTE's first full HD smartphone. In order to accommodate a full HD touch-screen you need a powerful processor and the Grand S has a monstrous 1.7 GHz quad-core Snapdragon processor.
The processor is backed up by a whopping 2GB of RAM, while on-board memory comes in at 16GB. ZTE have also incorporated a super-thin design (6.9mm) which makes the Grand S the thinnest 5 inch full HD quad-core smartphone on the market.
Two cameras are present on the Grand S with both a rear-facing 13 mega-pixel camera and a front-facing 2 mega-pixel camera present. The smartphone includes some excellent camera features including face recognition and panoramic shooting.
One of the big draws of the ZTE Grand S is that it supports 4G opening up the possibility for super-fast web-browsing and multimedia streaming. The full HD touch-screen, Dolby Digital surround sound and support for 4G make the Grand S one of the best smartphones on the market for streaming movies and videos !
The ZTE Grand S will be available to buy in China in the 1st quarter of 2013. At the current time we don't have any details on when it'll launch in the UK , but as soon as we do you'll be the first to know.
So far this year CES has been pretty quiet with the major manufacturers tending to avoid making announcements. However, that's given an opportunity for some of the smaller players to make their mark.
ZTE don't really qualify as a small player as they've now become one of the top 5 mobile manufacturers worldwide. However , across Europe they havn't had a huge presence due to the affordable nature of their previous devices.
ZTE are now looking to launch more premium devices and 3G are keen to see how the ZTE Grand S fares in the UK because it looks great on paper !
