Skype have announced that they've released a new version of their VOIP application for the Windows Phone 8 platform. The update is aimed at improving reliability and performance , but it does include a couple of improved features.
The biggest change in version 2.1 of the Skype application is that the "People Hub" has been temporarily disabled. The feature was causing huge instability on Windows Phone 8 devices, but don't worry as the feature will return as soon as the issue has been resolved.
Skype have also significantly improved the reliability of chat and call notifications when the application is closed. Furthermore, call reliability is now much higher which will be great relief to those who have experienced random hangups.
New additions include buddies from Windows Live Messenger now being labelled in the People list, the option to enable toast notifications for Windows Live Messenger buddies and an updated chat keyboard with auto-correct/auto-complete support.
The good news for Windows Phone owners is that they can expect amazing support for Skype on their devices thanks to Microsoft now owning the VOIP company.
