One of the major criticisms aimed at Apple's iPad Mini (pictured above) was the lack of a Retina display, which is compounded by the higher than expected price-point. Well, the good news is the iPad Mini 2 looks set to feature a Retina touch-screen.
KGI Securites analyst Ming-Chi Kuo claims that the iPad Mini 2 will include a Retina display running at the same resolution as the iPad 4 (2048x1536 pixels). The information , reported by MacRumours, was delivered in a new research report prepared for investors.
Apple's iPad Mini 2 would have a PPI of 324 is the rumours prove correct, which is a pretty significant improvement on the current models 163 PPI. That should ensure that the critics are silenced because that'll give the 7.9 inch model a higher PPI display than the iPad 4.
The immediate question that comes to mind is whether the price will increase. but we're pretty sure that it'll remain the same and this improvement is just due to technological progress.
Apple are expected to unveil the iPad 5 at the same time as the iPad Mini 2. The full-sized model should also feature an improved 9.7 inch Retina display , while it's also rumoured to be thinner and lighter than the current model.
Both the iPad Mini 2 and the iPad 5 are expected to be unveiled in the third quarter of this year and 3G will continue to bring you all the latest rumours until they officially get unveiled.
