Apple are expected to unveil the iPad 5 later this year and the first images of Apple's tablet have appeared online. The new pictures of the iPad 5 , posted above, show the back panel of the tablet alongside the rear of the iPad Mini.
We can't really tell a great deal about the Apple iPad 5 from the images other than it looks set to adopt an similar design to the iPad Mini , aside from the obvious difference in size. The iPad 5 looks set to incorporate the same slate finish as the iPad Mini, which we prefer over the gloss finish featured on previous models.
Previous information suggests that Apple's iPad 5 will be thinner and lighter than previous versions thanks to the inclusion of a thinner back plate and new display technology. The photo posted in this thread seem to validate this information, although they could be cleverly thought-out fakes.
Apple's iPad 5 is also expected to include an improved A6X processor which will provide unparalleled power. The A6X made its debut in the iPad 4 and we expect the clock-speed to be bumped up significantly for the iPad 5.
Rumours have also suggested that Apple's next iPad will have an improved Retina display and we're hopeful that it'll feature a full HD display. That'll mean that the iPad 5 would run at a resolution of 1920 * 1080 pixels and would be capable of displaying 1080p videos !
We've heard various release dates for the iPad 5 over the last couple of months, but we're expecting the tablet to unveiled in the Summer before going to launch in the last quarter of 2013.
Previously, we had heard that Apple would unveil the iPad 5 alongside a new iPad Mini model in March. However, we now believe that Apple will unveil the new 128GB model of the iPad 4 at that event and we'll have to wait for the iPad 5's unveiling.
3G will continue to bring you all the latest news on Apple's tablets including any fresh rumours regarding the iPad 5 and iPad Mini 2.
