Earlier today we brought you news of the Huawei Ascend Mate which a 6.1 inch monster. Now we've got news of another Huawei smartphone called the Ascend D2.
The Huawei Ascend D2 is Huawei's flagship Android smartphone which was unveiled earlier today at CES 2013. The specification is a massively improved when compared affordable smartphones and it should offer excellent value to consumers !
Huawei's Ascend D2 has a stunning 5 inch FHD IPS+ Super Retina display which runs at a resolution of 1920*1080 pixels. The full HD resolution gives the Ascend D2 a PPI of 443 , which makes it significantly sharper than the iPhone 5's display (326 ppi).
The display uses Corning Gorilla Glass meaning that it's scratch resistant, while the smartphone itself is both dust and water resistant (IPX 5/4). Interestingly, Huawei have also confirmed that a 4.7 inch version of the Ascend D2 will also be produced , which we assume will have an otherwise identical specification.
A full HD display needs a significant processor and the Ascend D2 ticks the box because it has a 1.5 Ghz quad-core processor. The CPU (Huawei's K3V2) should ensure that the smartphone runs Android Jelly Bean smoothly.
Huawei have ensured that battery life on the Ascend D2 is pretty good by including a 3000 mAh battery and a number of intelligent features,
One such feature is Huawei's "QPC" which lowers battery consumption by turning off the transmitter when data isn't being used, while it also includes ADRX technology which reduces standby power consumption by 20 per cent.
As you'd expect from a premium smartphone the Ascend D2 has a very impressive camera. The 13 mega-pixel camera features a high ISO sensitivity and gives users the option to manually adjust colour temperature.
We're not sure what connectivity the Ascend D2 will have but we expect it to support both 3G and 4G. One thing we do know is that the smartphone will be available in Pure White and Crystal Blue and that it'll launch in China in January.
As soon as 3G get more information about Huawei's Ascend D2 including any information on a UK launch we'll let you know.
